Another vote for American Buff. My 8 week old gosling rarely goes full honk. She is a chatter bug, but the decibel rating is lower than my microwave. She is friendly with us. Everyone else who walks by our house, she ignores for the most part. Sometimes people stop out of curiosity. She just walks back to the house.
Forgot to mention that Jupiter is a solo pet and only child. I'm with her full time during the day. She goes down for a nap every other day. So far, she is happy, thriving, engaged, just a joy to be around.
