I've owned them for over 3 years now, and I have to give them an 8.5.

I think I would give chicken owning about a 8.5. I love being woke up in the morning with a rooster crowing. That has got to one of the best things about owning a roo, as well as the great farm fresh eggs. I have had chickens for the best part of 20 years. I have had chickens since 1995.

I give them about a 7 or 8.There is more work that goes into owning chickens than most people think. But the eggs they give me are worth it.

I would give an 9/10. We love them (ok, me more than my husband). They are funny has heck! Care and maintenance is pretty easy. The only down side for me thus far is we had one get wry neck and had to euthanize And our surviving Wyandotte has only layed 3 eggs so far...the other two (Leghorn and Red Sexlink) have layed 195 between them (Sept-Dec). Miss MaryAnn has some making up to do!
