1 week old bantam shaking head

What happened? I have a bantam that we just bought today 3 days to a week old. She's doing the same thing. Our bedding is also pine chips. Any help would be great.

For one thing when they are that young put paper towels down over the bedding or the rubber shelf liner or old towels, the reason they can and sometimes do eat the shavings, they can get it into their nares. At this stage the most you can do if make sure she is warm enough [not over heated] and just keep an eye on her.

I want to thank you for this site. I had the same problem tonight with a 2 wk old Marans. The other 37 in the brooder are fine but this one just started shaking head and chirping. Breathing seems a little bit faster than the others too. My first time with chicks so am a nervous mama but will keep an eye on him/her. I'd used paper towels until they were 8-9 days old and understood that the pine shavings weren't food (although, I think they'll eat about anything...feathers, poop...they're idiots). I hadn't thought about dust getting in the nose but hopefully will be fine in the morning. Thank you again as my first thought was something horrible and they'd all be dropping like flies (well, they'd like the flies to drop...haven't been able to catch them, but fun watching them try).
