1 week old chick suddenly dying

I feel you here. I've never culled a chick, its usually too late when i try to help them. I wish you the best. I did have to watch a chick die, and that was hard enough. I wish you the best

My chick passed last night. Poor thing. I did learn a lot, though. And all my other chicks are thriving. Hopefully, I can prevent it from happening with future chicks.

So I just had another one fall ill. She's not going to make it. What is going on? I called Cackle Hatchery where I got them. They said chicks only get sick when they are stressed (too hot, too cold, crowded...)

. Here's my setup. Do I have too many in my brooder?

The temp at one end is 95. The other end is 81. They have fresh water, organic feed. I just added some acv to their water. The only thing I can think is that something is wrong with the meal worms I crushed up and gave them.... anyone had problems with meal worms? I picked the worms out of this mix

Don't feed chicks that mealworm treat, stay the course with only chick feed and fresh water. Move your digital temp reader to the hot side to know how warm it is and keep it there. Move your waterer to the cool side.

My thermometer says 89 and my chicks are all sleeping about halfway down the bin away from the heat. I ended up taking my turkey poults out and putting them in their own brooder. The chick bin is a lot more mellow now. The turkeys never slept when the chicks slept. All my chicks are sleeping. Maybe the turkeys were just too rambunctious.

I really hope I don't lose any more.

So far so good! I found out that the high protein in mealworms can hurt their little kidneys, so no more treats for them till they are older. I feel so bad... I didn't know.

I think separating the poults from my chicks was a good decision, too. Everyone looks happy and healthy! Man, poults are loud! And they aren't even stressed. They just peep constantly. Found quite a few threads talking about how loud they are... I guess that's just poults. LOL.
