I have 3 chicks that are one week old. They have stayed in the brooder for a week and they are scratching in the box and trying to jump out. Is it alright if i let them outside for an hour or so at such a young age?

Last spring I let mine run around outside a bit at that age. Really, I think it depends on the outside temperature. Where I am, it's only about 30 degrees at the moment. I think that would be too cold.

mine do that too. theres lil bald spots in the pin shavings where they scratch it away lol

Im curious myself, i have 11 barred rocks and 4 buffs...What would you say is good for them? 50-60*? For what period of time?

Right now at my house it is 70 degrees which I think is plenty warm for letting them out for a while but what about them getting diseases?
