1 week old chicks with crusty butts!

What can I do to help my chicks? 4 out of 5 of them seem to have crusty buns. I use a warm damp cloth everyday to wipe them, they screetch and dont like it. But is there anything else i can do to help them get over the crusty buns thing....? Any advice would be much appreciated...

Soak their bum in warm water

It will come off easier and they will always complain about it =P Just make sure ya dry them off good

It's sometimes helpful to put a little vaseline on the feathers around the vent to smooth them down. I've noticed that can completely fix the problem if you do it once a day or every other day

The vaseline thing definitely helps keep the poo from sticking. If you search under "pasty butt" you will find a lot of these threads.
