1 year old hen

Would my almost 1 year old hen pull feathers from her chest and tummy when sitting eggs? If so, why?

If she's sitting on eggs, she wants to keep them right next to her skin so she can keep them warmer.

I'm not an expert, but I think the bare belly is pretty common for broody hens.

Should I worry about it any? Are there any health concerns?

do a search on here for "broody hen health" that might give you some answers. I think most people are concerned when the hen sits on eggs they tend to stop eating and drinking like they should. I think for most people this appears to be the bigger concern than the feathers. Hopefully one of the Eggs-perts will chime in on this.

Well, my hen likes to be a Mom, I guess. The eggs are just ones that are in the nesting box. They aren't hers. And every day I take them away from her. Will she stop eating and die?
