1+yo Silkie roo - guidance needed!

i just remembered how! I hope this helps. It doesn’t really look like it’s swollen (his eye) it just looks sealed shut from discharge. But he’s been eating mash thats what I was feeding him in video to try a get a better view of his eye so that’s why I assumed it was mash and he was being a piggy until I saw it shut yesterday and with discharge

You can give the Tylan 50 orally 1/4 ml per pound 3 times a day for 5 days. He is eating so fast and getting the food all over his face and eye. Hard to see much.

Ok, I am sorry. I had a really hard time trying to get a decent photo. I literally had like 15 photos on my camera roll, lol., then finally took this video. I didn’t know if maybe I would have better luck using video and if someone could pause it and then zoom in or something! I really appreciate you taking the time to help!

Right now he and his brother are in a little bachelor pad, so I am concerned about the chicken he’s being housed with too. Should I try and get ahead and treat the other as well, or do you suggest just waiting until (or if) he’s symptomatic before doing so? Also, I have terramycin; should I do a saline flush and apply terramycin, or can I not use both? Or is it not necessary to do Terramycin because the Tylan will be sufficient enough alone?

You can treat any with similar symptoms. Saline to flush the eye, and Terramycin eye ointment are good to use in the eye. Tylan is good to treat systemic infection in the sinus and body.

Ok, I imagine the ointment and saline might help at least a little bit to make him more comfortable too. Thanks again for the info. I’m hoping the medication will do the trick. He still hasn’t developed any upper respiratory symptoms either, so hoping it will, is it possible for chickens to still have MG even without exhibiting signs of respiratory distress?
