Hello BYC

I’m Bill Jones of Leonardtown, MD. I told my son I wanted to get started raising my own chickens for eggs. I set out gathering pallets and built a 6’x4’ coop raised about 30” off the ground. Made a run measuring 8’x16’ from pallets as well. I had some extra white vinyl siding and installed it on the coop to cut down on the draft during the winter months. There’s plenty of ventilation both front and back. 10 days ago he brought 4 mature hens to their new home. I kept them in the coop and run for the first 5 days. When I’m home I open the gate and allow them to free range around the yard and vacant lot which adjoins our backyard. Their feeder is suppended from the floor under the coop to keep the feed dry and off the ground. Went to the local Lowes Home Center and bought 2 bags of mealworms and give them a treat daily. They know me too well now cause when they see me coming across the yard with the plastic container shaking it they come a running as they know it “TREAT TIME”.

I’m interested in raising my own mealworms and have some questions concerning a 3 drawer unit if someone could email me so we can communicate.

TIA..... Bill
