Hello! So the last batch of chicks I ordered ended up coming with a roo. Even as a chick he seemed to stick out more than my other chickens...wouldn’t let me hold it/super skittish etc. As he was aging I tried to handle him, but he just didn’t seem to want to be held.

He’s 10 months old now and has been flogging me when I go in the run. It isn’t all the time, but it’s enough to cause an inconvenience when I’m trying to get chores done. He has only flogged me once when free ranging and he had already been aggravated from me pushing him into a submissive position. I have tried to do this to try to show my dominance however he’s super hard to catch. A spray bottle has kept him at bay recently, but I can’t use that in the cold of winter.

Has anyone had experience with mean Lavender Orps?Everything I read said they are not aggressive towards humans, yet I know every animal is different. Don’t know if I should throw in the towel and rehome him. I know he’s just protecting, however I don’t think we need to put up with a jerk (especially when my girls don’t free range all the time).
