I don't know really, but I would say a rooster, because usually when someone shows a picture the tell her/him it is a rooster

I'd like to add, I'd actually like to see a better pic of the barred bird... the coloring on that one looks suspect to me.

That one IS a cockerel hes already crowing he was suppose to be an austrolarp but turned out to be a marans.
 
I've never had an Australorps rooster, my hatchery strain of hens are so "squat" they look like black soccer balls moving through some phenomena of physics. It's not built like my hens when they were younger, but different bloodlines, and it doesn't have the head gear coming out. The barred has a little above average comb, but it sure is built like a hen. * I never even seen the fluffy feet.
