I have an almost 10 week old black sex link pullet that has been spending an awful lot of time in the best box. Obviously to young to be broody she is t even old enough to lay. Should I worry that something is wrong or could she just be practicing.
My Shirley girl. She comes out eats gets water and goes right back to the next box.

Is she part of the original flock or a later add in? Possible bullying? She show signs of illness? If you dont have any laying eggs, could you block off nests until pullets are closer to point of lay?
She isn’t acting sick. She is eating, drinking and pooping. and is part of the original flock I got them on labor day from tsc. I haven’t witnessed any bullying.

Are you using lighting in the coop? If not, and all else considered, I would check for parasites (lots of posts here on that) and then block off nesting box to discourage her from staying in the there. 10 weeks is way to young to lay eggs. Ive heard of black sexlinks laying early, but never 10 weeks. Mine just began laying @ 23 1/2 weeks. My earliest red sexlink started laying at 19 weeks.
I hope others chime in with advice too.

No lighting in the coop yet I didn’t want to use a heat lamp because they are dangerous so I have to run electric out there to put a light with a timer on it. It has been a bit cold here the last few days in the 40’s wonder if that could be it to.

x2 on blocking off the nests. This part:

She comes out eats gets water and goes right back to the next box.

Makes me think it's a pecking order issue. Have you watched how the flock interacts? Is she the low one on the totem pole?

Is the enclosure in the back in photo 4 the coop and the rest of the photos the run/free range space?

We have 1.5 acres. They are just this week starting to be able to free range but only when I am out there to supervise. This is a picture of the coop and run. I haven’t seen anyone getting picked on. The smallest of the bunch is my rir.
