10 week old chicks and cracked corn

We have 29 chicks that are 10weeks old in a coop/run outside... and their chick starter Is getting expensive... we were wanting to start giving a 2/3 cracked corn mix to them.. is this ok? Also heard of giving grit with corn? Any advice is helpful TIA :yiipchick

Cracked corn can be about 10% of their diet. It does not have the nutrition that those chicks need to develop properly. Grit is needed whenever you give chicks anything to eat other than chick starter or grower as the grit is needed to grind up their food. Grit is not food.
