Yesterday when I was out in the coop, I heard what sounded like an attempt by by of my 10 week old chicks to crow! and not just once, but twice. I'm not sure which one it was, as I have 6 of 3 different breeds in there, but I also noticed one of the barred rock cockerels make what looked like a practice attempt at mounting one of the 10 week old pullets. Isn't this a little early?

I have a 12 week old Cuckoo Marans roo that started and he is funny, a real low sounding crow, but he is trying. He is also, "practicing" his love moves, the chicks however, are not letting him without a fight........ lol

Some can crow as early as 2 weeks. It took my BR roo 4 1/2 months to start crowing

And even now, it's not a crow. Just a loud HOOOOOooooOO. Not sure if it will change. He has been doing it more and more. He goes through all the motions of a crow, but it is one toned.

My blue cochin just let our her (his?) first loud crow at 3.5 months. Sigh... Looks like we have a roo on our hands! Good luck!

One of our little bantam cockerels started crowing at 4 weeks. He sounded like a very tiny rusty door hinge.
