Hello!
I purchased 2 poults from Rural King a week ago. One of the poults I purchased I was drawn to because she was only able to use one leg & I felt the need to take her. As the week has went on, she has gotten worse. She was eating, drinking, & getting around on the one leg, her poop was normal, she was chirping, so I was hopeful I could get her using the other leg again. Today is the 1 week mark of having her, & she is not doing well. It seems she has only declined instead of improved. She is no longer eating, no longer drinking, & has used her wings to get around, her legs are no longer working for her. I am so confused on what has happened/what is wrong with her. The other poult I purchased is absolutely fine, acting normal, eating, drinking, playing, chirping, & poop is normal. I hope someone can give me some ideas of what could be wrong. Thank you so much

I am guessing that you got broad breasted poults. They can be prone to leg issues such as perosis aka slipped tendon. Perosis is more common when not fed a good high protein turkey or game bird starter that has the higher amounts of lysine, methionine and niacin that are required for their rapid growth.

If it is a slipped tendon, it will not heal on its own. You can search the Emergencies forum for slipped tendon. It is the same for turkeys as it is for chickens.
