This morning when I fed my chickens, I noticed one was missing. I looked around a little-bit, but figured it was just "out-of-sight" behind something or another. Since I was pressed for time to join a friend watching NFL Football, I didn't think much of it.

When I returned this afternoon, I fed the chickens again...and this time looked all over for THAT pullet. Nowhere!

A couple of nights ago, there was an owl hooting in a tree near my Front Door. I'm thinking now that the pullet was grabbed by that owl last night and the owl flew away with it.

To make matters WORSE........my Denver Broncos LOST their game today !!!

Free-range is good and all, for free food and happy chickens, but the way the wildlife seems to be getting, I think a lot of people better tighten up security. Now in 10 to 15 more weeks you could have been getting eggs. Maybe you should set up a trap, just in case.
On a more positive note: The Saints Won!!!

YEP. GLAD the Saints WON !!! (I'd be pleased to swap Denver's 2 quarterbacks for Drew Brees !!!)

OR almost any other quarterback except Cutler or Culpepper............Maybe John Elway's son will be available soon.

I wouldn't TRAP the OWL. I like 'em! AND they do help keep the mice population a little bit lower....

I'll just have to start lockin' the chickens in the coops at night like I used to do. (I think some are sleeping outside lately.)

Oh yeah gotta lock em up at night or they will get picked off one by one for sure.

I remember years ago attending a Dolphins vs Broncos football game....me a native floridian sitting in the Miami stands yelling my fool head off for Elway! I got some ugly looks from friends but did not care...if they were playing Miami, they were a good team. hahahahaha I was a Steelers fan throughout the late 60's/70's....the terrible towel days.

Gotta go I am giving my age away

I had one of my 10 week old pullets disappear, too. All my girls are enclosed in a 6 ft. high chainlink fenced chicken yard when I'm not home and when I came home from work one day one was missing. No feathers, no holes under the fence. It happened just that once. So I have no idea what happened to her, either.
