$100 Coop

I love this little coop and if it will accommodate 6 birds it will be perfect for me. I had planned on spending no more than $100 and using recycled wood. Is there a plan for this coop with dimensions? If so I will be making it over my Christmas break.

I'm not sure this design would be large enough for six birds unless they're bantams. If there's enough interest I'll put the design up on the Sketchup site and anyone can get all the detail, including dimensions they'll need.

Thanks. I still like the looks and functionality of this little coop so I may have to make it a bit larger. I could always make 2 and put them together. They won't be in it 24/7 and will have a enclosure for their run. As far as interest in the coop, many folks are lurkers and don't post or join. IF you look at the views number it will show you how many might have an interest. Looking forward to seeing it on sketchup.

Unfortunately, making it a little bigger would eliminate one of the advantages of the design in that it makes optimum use of 8x4 sheets of ply. You might make it wider or longer, but not without having to buy additional sheets of ply, most of which would go to waste.
Maybe the next design I do will be for 8 birds.

Just out of curiosity, I priced all the components at Lowes today, and the total I got was less than $70 for all the wood. Deck screws would add another $10 or so. Maybe I should rename the thread $80 coop.

I really like this coop and am considering adding this to my coop/run that I just built...I have a backyard flock of chickens and having aspects such as this coops that look nice and serve a great function are key to being able to raise backyard chickens...I will definitely save this design.

The price could be kept below $100 if you use some recycled wood. There is a lot just laying around waiting to be carted off or burnt that would be somewhere in the neighborhood of free. Businesses have to pay for trash removal and some of the trash is wooden crates. take them apart and you have free panels and 2x2, 2x4 pieces of lumber.

This is very cool. By chance do you have the actual cutting sizes/angles? Wouldn't mind working on a new one as I have a lot of scrap wood laying around.

I think I have enough laying around right now to make it.

Here are the dimensions you need for cutting ply. Let me know if you need more info. Only 3 sheets of ply are shown here since the nest boxes are the only other requirement for ply and their size and placement is optional.

Mr. Peepers. Thanks. I think I actually have enough scrap to make 2 of these. Since I am thinking about raising meat chickens this spring I think these will work out great with my run and other coop.

Thanks
