I’ve been hatching eggs for close to 4 years now. I like to think I do pretty well. Typically I’m over 80% on my hatch rates.
On May 20th, I had a dozen in and 1 wasn’t fertile. Of the 11 all hatched but 1. It was hatching and died in its shell while I was sleeping.

Today however, my batch of 13 eggs have all hatched, WooooHoooo. First time for a perfect hatch, I’m so pleased and excited!

That's so nice! I have also been hatching for about the same amount of time, but always by broody... Guess I don't actually do much except worry maybe.
Those chicks are so cute!

Well, I think my broody is to blame for my hatching skills. She’s the queen of abondonment, and I can’t let them die so out comes the incubator. Hahahaha
These actually aren’t her fault. Someone wanted hatching eggs and the day I had them ready said changed my mind. My broody hatched 10 chicks herself 2 yrs ago. She has 6 now, 3 she hatched and I had to toss the other 2 in the incubator for a few days and I have a single 8 week old that she’s taken on too.

All those fluffy bottoms 🤣
I have a girl broody right now. She's never hatched before. I was only allowed to put 3 eggs under her. One of them won't hatch. I don't think the other two will either. It's day 6 and no sign of life.
I don't want to give up on them too early but if I'm going to add more eggs I need to make sure the other ones are definitely not going to hatch. Can't have some hatching six days later.
It's so easy hatching with a broody, I don't want to try incubating myself. We do have an incubator but only used it once because the broody was being unreliable. She took those chicks on when they hatched. But we had no idea what we were doing, and they hatched a day late.
Everyone else seems to have chicks already and I must say, I'm jealous.
