I just set 104 eggs in my new 1502 sportsmans. Looking to see how well it does on its first hatch. Anyone know what the hatching rate of the sportsman is? I saw somewhere it was at 85% but that sounds too good to be true.

I guess it would depend on the percentage of fertility and age of the eggs too

I bet it's better than my hova bator. Can any answer what somebody does with all the chicks that hatch? I may be ignorant, but I see that is almost like a hatchery or something. But then again, I guess were not all backyard chicken raisers.

I just hatched 84.6% (11/13) from a LG- an incubator is a tool, the hatch depends on you and nature- its not a really super complicated machines. Even the fancy ones - they keep water and eggs at specific conditions, either manually (like I did) or automatically like you will do.

I average 90 percent just about every time
You will love your sportsman , i have 2 here and a hatcher.
Good luck on your hatch
i have a bater full due on the 29th and a batch of guinea eggs going in in 2 more days.

I am going to sell the eggs that I just set. They are barred rock and white Leghorns. Can anyone tell me some info about the beep when the turners are turning the eggs. Mine is setup in my basement but I can hear the beeps in my bedroom. I dont really want to be woken up by my incubater each night at 1, 3, and 5 am.

Question, I have a homemade 'bator and it has auto turners...do you leave the egg side ways for awhile, or do you just let them turn and then let them go back to the "straight" position?
