i have a 10ft by 10ft dog lot i made into a coop how many chickens can i put in there? I currently have 20 in there but i can move some to the other coop if i need to it is the same size. There is only 6 chickens in the other coop but they are younger and smaller than my other ones. Any advice on to move them or just leave them in the main coop?

Rule of thumb for large fowl is 4 square feet per bird I think. Hope that helps!

The four square rule is for the chicken house or indoor space. Total for the yard usually 10 square feet for each chicken. Industry says one or two square but they debeak.

A Very comfortable 40!! Lucky you, we can only have 6!! Don't forget you need way less nesting boxes than the number of birds you have!!!!
