I have a 10x10 dog kennel and I was wondering how many chickens it would hold I was thinking 25 possibly or maybe 36 they are going to be free range mostly but I need some opinions.

side note: I live in Mississippi what breed do you guys think would be well-fit for the climate here

10x10 for a run, or for a coop? you can hold around 25 if it's a coop and you're free ranging. If you live in a place where there's lots of snow in the winter, that will not be enough space for them to stay until the snow is gone.
for a coop

I have a 12x14 coop, and it comfortably held 35 chickens over the winter. That's still only 4.8 square feet per chicken, and putting 25 chickens in your kennel would be 4 square feet per chicken. That's still a good number, but any less space than that and they would be too cramped.

ok thank you

if you are using the kennel for a coop you would have to make some modifications, but at most you could stuff 25 in there, but i would only do 20. Remember if you are not going to wake up at dawn and leave the chickens free ranging tell dusk, you still have to have a run which would have to be at the least 10x25 ft
