I'm an experienced chick rearer. I've rarely lost a chick to illness. But this year, when I got a dozen chicks, they were dropping like flies. Only one of them has survived. Symptoms started with toes becoming weak and curling all over the place, mostly curling inward. Later, as they got weaker, they were unable to eat and always stayed under the heat lamp. They developed severe underbites to the point where they couldn't eat. I put a little bit of gatorade in their water for electrolytes, and they were being fed MannaPro medicated chick feed. I also hand-fed them warm sugar water. The one that survived still has curled toes and a slight underbite today. What the heck happened??
