a week ago I noticed one of my drakes was not sounding normal. now this guy is not eating, but is drinking water. I took him to the vet on saturday, could not find anything wrong with him. said maybe scratched his throat, now said duck is not eating, he was standing off by himself and looking kinda odd on tuesday and shaking. I took him straight to the vet, i tried feeding him some of his favorites and he declined eating them. been that way since. He is drinking so I put nutridrench in his water, and literally soaked his food and diluted it in the water just to get some nutrients down him. I am at a total loss. they took x-rays and blood work, still waiting on the vet to call me about the blood work. In the mean time his chest is sinking in, in the middle, his sweet voice is nearly gone and I am at my wits end. We do live in a high rat area. she did one test to see if he had maybe gotten ahold of rat poison, but that was negative. anyone have any ideas?

So sorry to hear about your drake. Here is some good info on how to care for one that is sick. I would also consider tube feeding him going with out food can cause them to go down hill pretty fast . Did your vet do a fecal? maybe worms they can cause them to go off feed and lose weight and if gape worms lose their voice.

its kinda like what hasn't she done at this point she pried his mouth open and looked down it with a flashlight didn't see anything, initially she thought maybe he just scratched it but that does not appear to be the case anymore.

Are you giving him any vitamins/electrolytes or Poultry Nutri Drench? In his water.

Might help him hang on till ya'll can determine what is going on.
Sure hope he pulls through.
