In Florida the heat index is already at 108°, actual temp is 95°. My hen Annibelle is out there, in the shade and dust bathing (I can see her on camera). Should I get my sister to move her inside? She has two water sources with drops of vinegar in them. Trying not to freak out. It was 104° heat index sterday and she was fine.

I do all those things too but I'm gone 12 hours a day so the fan is pointed at the coop and I give Ice water and cold corn along with blueberries. I bring her inside to the kitchen on the tile floor.

If you are able to bring them in, that would help for sure. I live in a hot area too. You can put ice in their water and/or offer them frozen veggies or corn as stated above. Sometimes I like to lightly spray the run so they can dust bathe in the cool dirt which they love. Depending on the breed they may be more heat tolerant than others.

Don't bring them inside, it's more detrimental than helpful. A kiddie pool cut down with water in it to wade in and a fan, lots of deep shade and maybe an area of dirt you can soak in the morning for cool dirt to lay in will work wonders. Frozen soda bottles or milk jugs to lay against are nice too.

Ohhh. My sister put her in the bathroom. I hope I didn't make a huge blunder. I'll try those things you mentioned. Ice jugs and wet dirt. Maybe aim another fan in the yard.

I'm sure if it hasn't been a regular thing then it's not much if a blunder! The reason it's not a good idea to bring them in is because they need get used to those temperatures or they never will. They'll continue to struggle year after year.

Don't get me wrong, I hate to see my birds pant or suffer in any way. The pools are a huge hit with my flock.

Oh, thank you for explaining. I didn't know why it would be bad. That makes sense.
