110˚ and my chickens have become honored guests

And next week up to 112. We often see highs that touch 103-105 but this Is Horrible. It’s good to see I’m not alone at being at my chickens beacon call. Misters, fans, Shade cloth, frozen treats. Being a newbie it really worries me that I’m being over protective. Good to see I’m not alone. 😊👍

You're not being over protective. They need relief from the heat. They can and do die if left unattended.

Don't let it make you paranoid but don't plan long absences and be ready with cooling strategies. I print out 14-day forecasts so I'm planning for the long range and then I check the hourly forecasts so I know when I'm "on duty" and when I can plan my errands away from home.

I know! You can't wear any special clothes to keep you cold!

We cope. We have loose cotton clothes, AC and pools for a reason! But when I was out the other day -- the worst day -- and I was breathing into a mask, my own breath -- which, ironically, was cooler than the outside temp -- felt like a furnace blast coming back at me.

I live in northern Ohio and every summer I curse the heat. But every winter I curse the cold! I do prefer heat though. I hate wearing coats and boots and other winter gear. I am brooding some light brahma chicks, have never had that breed before. Sure hope they do good in the summer next year!

I kept asking my niece about this after she moved to Austin.
She said, it's just like winter up north, you go from place to place and don't tarry much outside in the extreme temps. Made sense to me!

Yes. Our summer can run March - October and it's like winter elsewhere. You stay indoors. You go from A/C home to A/C car to A/C office to A/C gym to A/C store back to A/C home. And you drink a LOT of ice water!

If your that hot personally, get a dish bucket put cold water and ice in it and put your feet in there and relax. It truly works to keep you cool. I don't have A/C either.
I have done this, for me and the dogs, just cold hose water.
Used a washing machine tray so big dogs could get all 4 feet wet at once.
