quick update:
3 chicks are healthy and doing great!
but this was a staggered hatch! i have more going into lock down today. this batch was on day 9 on the day of my temp spike. i candled a few yesterday and saw at least one with movement, and a bunch that had little to no growth inside. since lock down i've been watching the eggs rock around like crazy! fingers crossed that they all make it out easily!
AND i think i've figured out the most important reason NOT to do a staggered hatch.... instead of one lock down to glue your nose to the incubator, there are TWO! my house is trashed and my neck hurts for craning over the incubator, my husband's sure i'm crazy
