It got up to 113*F today, I wish I hadn't fallen asleep maybe it would have made a difference, but they had ice water, food, hay, a shady bush and an extra shade blanket. Poor baby, I was going to show him at the fair, now he's up in Bunny Heaven. And Duwop must be devastated, should I buy her a friend?

I'd hold off on purchasing another rabbit until the weather gets cooler. Getting used to a new home is enough stress without dealing with this kind of heat. Sorry about your loss.

Your bunny should be ok without a buddy for now. Rabbits are actually solitary animals. I am so sorry for your loss. It was 112 here today and I surprised day by day that we have no flock deaths.

One thing that really makes a difference with rabbits is to fill a gallon milk container with water and freeze it. The rabbits will wrap themselves around the frozen jug to keep cool.

If it's getting that hot, I'm almost surprised the other one didn't die also. Rabbits really can't handle this summer's heat. I've heard of 5 or so rabbits that have died already. I'm really sorry about your rabbit. I had a doe that died from heatstroke, and it's not fun at all.

In addition to the ice water, put in a frozen milk jug or soda bottle. It's good to put in as much ice as you can. Also, I've heard that wetting the shade blanket with cool water can help, especially if you hang it in front of a fan. I know that rabbits will just sit in front of a fan.
If you have some flat tiles, I've heard that freezing those and putting them in for the rabbits to lie on can help. I bet flat rocks would also work.

Good luck! So sorry and I hope your other bunny stays safe from this miserable heat!

I actually just declared her a house bunny for this Summer until it cools down.
