Up for auction are my first Araucana hatching eggs for the year. You will receive ( minimum 12, max 17 ) freshly collected fertile eggs from the true rumpless and tufted Araucana breed of chicken. The egg color will vary from blue-green to blue, and as a note, these are test eggs! The boys have been breeding successfully, and I have trimmed their vent feathers, however I have not hatched any eggs yet myself, so there is no gaurantee on how the fertility may be.

These are the males ( all are tufted, but some of their tufts were chewed off this year ) currently used for the test eggs:

These are a few of the hens who laid them:

The Araucana is an extremely hardy dual purpose breed, very well adapted to free ranging as well as confinement, and is a frequently broody and good mothering breed. They have superb laying abilities and lay medium to large sized eggs. (the eggs from this auction will vary, however I do have specific colors who lay only large eggs) Araucanas are non-aggressive, however they can be noisy when it comes to the "egg song" or crowing.
The Araucanas hatching from these eggs will vary from blue to normal variations of gold and silver duckwing, blue, black, splash, blue cuckoo, cuckoo, and splash cuckoo as well as a few blues with gold or silver leakage. Your chances for the birds having tufts, as with any Araucanas, are 50/50. You will not receive the lethal tufted issue, as I do not breed tufted x tufted.

I will offer Araucana eggs next week with a more guaranteed fertility rate, and with ONLY blue eggs, no greenish ones included.

These eggs will be shipped on Tuesday, March 29th, to the winning bidder. I accept payment via PayPal or Money Orders if you do not have a Paypal account.

Good Luck!

You have some gorgeous birds, and I'd love to give these a whirl. I haven't seen any true Araucana locally, and they would be a *tremendous* addition to my colored egg laying flock. A larger, divided henhouse and runs are in my plans and, should I win and get lucky on the hatch, these would be the stars of the Hill.

Depending on size of tufts - Either as soon as they hatch or as soon as they're dry.
