12 Cornish Rock hens eating and pooping around the clock...need help!

FF is great at no more feed waste & you'll end up using less feed....Takes a bit more time but worth the savings & benefits. The thread on FF is long but worth reading.
It also made the poop less stinky than I was expecting. Everyone talks about how nasty the poop from the Cx chickens smells, but it really was tolerable with the FF. Still not pleasant, just not as bad as I expected. Also, the smell when processing them was not as bad as everyone made it out to be.
 
Another idea for a fixed coop and run setup is deep litter... as soon as you can "smell" the poop, spread a layer of hay/lawn clippings/leaves over top. Keep doing that until it's too deep or the birds are done. The used litter can then be spread in the garden for spring or moved somewhere to further decompose into good garden compost. The one bed that I've been adding this mix to for the past few years did really well this year! (I started with really bad soil. A few years of chicken compost fixed it.)
