Yesterday we brought in 12 eggs. We only have 7 chickens.

My husband brought in 3 in the morning before he went to work. I suppose some/all of those could have been laid the night before. None of us can remember how many were brought in the night before nor whether we checked after they were tucked in for the night.

Even if those 3 were all from the night before, that's still 9 eggs/7 chickens

I sometimes have the occasional hen lay two in one day. I found five extra eggs last week, but they'd likely been there a couple of days. I was emptying a nest and noticed that there was hay layered over several eggs. I dug them out, only to find another layer of eggs, each layer covered in a bit of hay so that I could not see them unless I dug. lol It felt like Easter!
