12 F1 eggs "Fluffy Feathered Ameraucanas"

No, not really. You want to talk rare birds...here they are. I have been following this thread for a year or so now and it has been an incredible journey for these people and these birds. These are not imports...and really are rather fragile to boot. I would think prices like these would be necessary to keep te eggs/birds from being "wasted" by people who are not willing or capable (like me!) of helping to further this breed. At such prices only those seriously interested in these would bid.

Doh, I missed it! Thought it ended an hour later

umm, yeah, I am familiar, I had eggs from waaaay back when the original two were there(Ozzie and Harriet), but the roo wasn't being too nice to the hen(and subsequent infertile eggs). I just know the originals were available for very reasonable prices(actually think I got mine for the price of shipping). I don't think they are much more fragile than true araucana

. I don't agree with the price = preservation....I know plenty of people who would love to help that couldn't afford it...

financially well off doesn't mean you will be better qualified to breed (i.e. look as the silver laced brahmas.....unscrupulous breeding is producing waaaay too many vulture hocks, but hey, they are getting their money because they spent their money. I have one, maybe 2 pullets(1 is a "pat") and had to purchase a non vulture hocked cockeral to breed because my 3 cockerals have vulture hocks) It would have been cheaper and easier to use what I have but I want to improve what I have, not make money.

I get things because I like them, not to make money. I have some nice birds(my ameraucanas) from awesome breeders, I give away eggs and haven't sold any for more than shipping because I like to share what I have.
I really was only curious what the reserve was.....if I wanted them, I just would have gone back to the source, Julie, as she is a wonderful person and has been extremely generous....

I don't know, guess I would rather see the price start "reasonable" and then where it goes it goes......just not a fan of "reserve price"

good luck to the winner

would also like to know whose line of ameraucana they were outcrossed to , if anyone can share?

I certainly didn't mean it to come off as though I meant people who don't have much money would not be serious about them...just that one would tend to be more serious to spend that much. I too have birds because I like them. I paid to get tolbunt and am to drive 10 hours to south FL to pick up some o shamo this month so I understand the "like" part...my husband wonders why I can't like normal easy to find things! LOL I watch the Icelandic thread also and the same thing is beginning to happen there....at first eggs/birds are shared/given to spread them around to more breeders and then you start to see auctions start up. I don't want either birds but do find it interesting to read and watch.
