12 Week Old Cochin - Lethargic and Poopy Bum

Lilly is a 12 week old Blue Cochin ... 2 days ago was running around with her flock mates happy go lucky. Yesterday I came home from work and she was sitting in the corner of the pen by herself. I walked over to her and she let me pick her up (unusual). She looks like she has the "blues" and does want to mingle with the others. I checked her out .. not lice or mites but has a poopy butt .... messy feathers around her vent. Yellowish. Is this a sign of worms? I cleaned the coop and pen and did not see any unusual poops. Is she too young for Wazine? I cannot find any Valbazen in the area so I did order some online today but that won't be in for a week. I'm worried. She is just sitting at the door of the coop by herself. She is not really interested in her food. She did eat some corn muffin.

It's hard to say what;s wrong. But I would start with cutting all those dirty feathers off. Is her crop normal? Give her anything she'll eat for now. Wazine is fine for now. Did you think of coccidiosis? 4 months is a bit old but not unheard of.

Is it safe or ok to treat for both coccidiosis and worms at the same time?

Yes. But I would start treating the cocci right away.

I'm doing some research on coccidiosis and it says that they should be showing blood in their poop. I haven't seen any blood. I actually haven't seen any diahrea ..... but yet her feathers around her vent are all yucky..... and she's seems "off". Should I still treat with Corid?

There are several types of cocci, some don't show blood. I would treat them . I personally would have treated them all. Here's a link to some good information

I'm having a hard time trying to get the Corid / water solution into her. She will not drink on her own so I am trying to use an eye dropper but she will not open her beak. She hardly opens her eyes now. I think I might have gotten a few drops into her .. by pouring a few drops along her beak ... I did she her move her beak a few times when I did that. How do you open their beaks so that I can get more of this medication into her? OMG ... I feel horrible .. I''m seeing her deteriotate in front of me and I feel helpless. I have her in the house now. Is there another way to get this medication into her before its too late????
