Are 12 week olds mature enough to go in the big coop? Really I'm worried about a light. They sleep in a barn cage with just a regular light bulb in there. Its not shining in their faces on the roast. It is just there if they get chilly. It is 18 degrees today and they are running free in the barn with all the adults. The next week it will get down to 10 degrees at night. Is that really a big deal. I mean they run around all day in below freezing temps like it doesn't bother them. There are 8 and I have a cage within the coop they will go for the first few days. I can't put a light in the main coop. My DH is about to kill me with the lights I do have going.... I will need there cage by next week..

I would assume that the body heat of all of them in the same coop would be a good thing. IF the older birds let them roost with them that is. I'd at least try it out for a day.
