I keep silkies and recently got this one. Have them indoors for quarantine. Was told it was a hen and looks very hen like to me but recently started making this noise while im preparing it breakfast(youtube link). Its 12 weeks old hatched on halloween. I think it might be a rooster and I already have one and im not allowed to have two.

That is a cuckoo cockerel and my guess is, the one you'll want to keep.

This is my oldest one. Notice the pink comb and wattles as these are about the only type of silkie that has those, the vast majority of pure silkies are black.

You can breed him to another cuckoo to make more of those. If you don't have another, you can see what happens breeding him to a black hen as it depends how many barred genes he has. (I'm putting this more in layman terms as I don't know most of the fancy ones.)

A double cuckoo rooster bred to a black hen produces single cuckoo roos and cuckoo pullets

A single cuckoo rooster bred to a cuckoo hen produces double cuckoo roos, single cuckoo roos, cuckoo pullets, and black pullets.
