My RIR is 12 weeks old, when can I give her laying pallets? Shes about the same size as the older hens but I have her in a separate pen and can't put her in with the others till she can have laying pallets. Thanks.

The two schools of thought I know of are to either start at 17-18 weeks or wait till she actually starts laying. I got my pullets at roughly 17 weeks old and started them on layer mash with no problems, even for the one that didn't start laying for nearly 2 months.

If you have plenty of Starter/Grower or whatever you are feeding her now, I wouldn't put her on a layer feed til she reaches 18 weeks old.....

No sooner than 16 or 17 weeks in my opinion to place her on a layer feed...she is too young ...
