I'll probably have to expand the coop and hit up the TSC Chick Days in the spring. Or take them to the parking lot sale and put a "free to good home" sign on them. The other 5 aren't pure bred and I can't verify lineage on these 3. Culling isn't an option unless they become a danger to the grandchildren or each other.

that is really not the best place to get chicks....once i got 12 chicks and there was only on hen and they were not even what breed they were suppose to be

We've had bad luck there in years past, too. This April we got 20 RSL/Golden Comets there and all survived. Only 1 ended up being male. We usually buy from a local feed store but we wanted to try the RSL this year and they didn't offer them. We did get RIR, "EE", and BR at the feed store, about 30 total. I met a local lady on BYC a couple months ago. She has some more exotic breeds, I may ask her about chicks next year. I've never tried the mail order hatcheries.

I got RSLs from TSC and they were mutts just ripped us off! we go to true value and get are chicks we got 15 sexed pullets and they say vent sexing is 99% right....I got that one percent lol even though the they were suppose brown egg layers we only got 2 brown egg layers lol

The tscs that are close to me (which is still a 30-45 minute drive one way in either direction) only have straight run and the chicks always look half dead or just sickly in general. And over priced

I ended up getting mine at a Rural king for a dollar less and the chicks were healthier. I had no deaths or pasty bums. Mine were labeled sexed pullets and all were. But there's always that chance.

We are in the same boat with TSC. 30 minutes north or south of us. We are truly the middle of nowhere. We've got 3 small feed stores closer but still 20 miles in any direction. I've heard of Rural King here on BYC but I've never seen one in person.

I live in southern Ohio and all Rural kings here are up north. They recently put one in waverly which is still about a 45 minute drive. They have better deals than TSC. I feel for you, living in the middle of nowhere is hard.
