-12F here.....

My bones hurt reading the 'Little House on the Prairie" books to my son in the summer time.
I told my husband that if it isn't in the 90's, I am cold. My son asked Santa for a metabolism for his mother for Christmas.
If I were where you live, I'd be dead by now.

Harlanshollow how did you get so lucky!?

It is 23 below here in Conrad Montana this morning! I am not sure how far away from you we are.

The power went out at 11 last night and didn't come back on until after 1 this morning. We have a kerosene heater but I was really worried about the barn kitties and the chickens. Our kittys have a heated pad and insulated house but with no power that doesn't help. All 9 of them must have sleeping on top of each other because everyone was fine this morning!

Keep warm!

We're 10, but with the wind chill it is -9.

I locked up the barns yesterday morning when it started blowing. Everyone is inside except about 10-15 cockerels. I need to figure out somewhere to put them for the next couple of days.

We were -2 overnight (don't know what the wind chill was) and we're up to 7 degrees now with a LOT of snow coming our way. I'm trying to decide if I should let my flock out for a while today before the blizzard hits, but it's really cold out there! On a happier note, inside the coop it was a balmy 16 degrees overnight! I'm really happy about that, as it had been staying about 10 degrees above the outside temp., but it's true that the colder it gets the wider that gap between inside/outside gets!

Stay warm everyone!

(Guess I need to change my signature - only have 13 chickens now, 11 hens and 2 roos. We butchered the 12 extra roos. We hatched these birds in an incubator and I really, really didn't want to have to butcher any of my babies, but when you hatch them out I guess there's no way around it. We survived the ordeal, and now we know we can do it if we have to.)
