Mother left the nest for a drink and a bite. The other hen, still waiting for a chick to hatch, keeps an eye on the chicks (1 day old).

Oh my heart! I absolutely LOVE Dutch Bantams so so much! She's such a beauty and looks so attentive. The earlobes get me every single time. Looks like they're wearing earrings. What breed is she sitting on?

Yes my Dutch are lovely and curious tiny chickens. The eggs she’s sitting on are bantam Rhode Island red. Just like the chicks that hatched. It’s possible her eggs got too cold and won’t hatch. I’ll give it another two or three day’s to be sure.
