I have three thirteen week old pullets and was just wondering when they might start laying. I have a bantam mottled cochin, a lavender orpington, and a coronation sussex. Please tell me when you think they will start laying, and what the signs are that they are about to start laying.

Orps usuay take a little longer to mature, maybe 24 to 28 weeks, and Sussex I believe are earlier, maybe 20 or 22 weeks. I don't know about Cochins. But it's all guesswork, anway.

I had a Coronation Sussex once--she was so beautiful. It took her a while to lay and when she did, it was only 3-4 a week. Her personality and looks made up for it, though.
