My girls won’t lay☹️

The reason for my question was in reference to your response about the new hunting lab. So I was curious if they are currently unable to free range. So them laying elsewhere wouldn't be a possibility. But since they are still able to free range it is a possibility some are hiding them. But you also have to take into consideration the breed and age. I honestly wouldn't except much for 4 year old hens after a molt and heading into winter. Maybe couple eggs here and there. Most of the 28 week olds you probably won't see many eggs till early spring. With winter coming it's low egg production time. I have around 30 girls of different ages and breed and I get 5-6 eggs a day right now.
My hens are two years old tho

Okay so what should I be doing?
They probably won't lay much until spring due to shorter days and molting. Not much you can do but wait. For the time being though I'd feed an all flock rather than layer as they don't need the extra calcium in layer rn, just keep crushed oyster shell on the side

My mistake, I misread the 4 as age. Most of my 2 year olds right now are either molting or done molting. I'm not expecting much from them till spring. My leghorn girls will probably pick back up but my other breeds probably not most of them didn't lay last winter either. That's just how owning chickens is. That's why most egg producing places sell them before the first molt because egg production stops. And feeding a chicken for a couple months without egg production isn't cost effective. You'll find most of these poor hens at auction. Your young girls will probably give you some eggs soon but don't except spring/summer time egg production from them. Feed a good quality feed. Mine are on 20% all flock with oyster on the side and a acre to roam. My Marans, Easter Eggers and Barnevelder are not good winter layers even as pullets last year I don't think I got any eggs from them. My olive eggers, Sapphire gem, and leghorn and few others breeds were pretty consistent all winter. It's nothing your doing wrong just the way things work with chickens.

Hi y’all! I have 4 two year old hens and 10 twenty eight week old pullets who aren’t laying. My hens were molting about two months ago but still haven’t picked laying back up. I get maybe one egg every three days if I’m lucky. My pullets haven’t layed a single egg and aren’t showing any signs of starting soon. I feed them a layers feed mix and have oyster shells available for them. I also have a light in their coop because of the earlier sun set. it kinda feels like they are all laughing in my face about the free food tbh😂 any tips? My fam is talking about getting rid of the “freeloaders” so I need help. Oh, my pullets are lavender orpingtons, black copper Marans, speckled Sussex, barnevelders, and Easter eggers and my hens are a sapphire gem, a black Australorp, a white leghorn and a silver leghorn.
yea hens will lay less in the fall and winter depending on how cold it is for your fall
