Hi everyone,

Doing some hatching this spring so I need to thin my flock. I have two blue wheaten marans pullets (10 months old) and one blue wheaten marans hen (unknown age, I purchased her last Christmas) that I will sell as a group for $50.

I don't ship birds or have people come to the house, so this will need to be a local meetup or delivery. I live in east Norman, Oklahoma. I can meet you at the local Thunderbird state park as long as we maintain 'social distance' due to coronavirus, or I can even drop them at your place if you live around here. Venmo would be nice so we don't have to get close!

Please do not make arrangements to buy if you do not have a secure coop and feed ready for them. Also these hens are on the smaller side so watch out for bullying from your existing flock.

Pictures of the pullets and hen below, as well as the pullets' eggs (next to a random wyandotte egg for comparison). Their back feathers are torn up from being housed with a young, overzealous rooster. They'll look much better after a moult.

Thanks for looking!

Did you hatch this year? I am looking to add two birds to my little flock of four. I would like to find someone local with pullets at 16 weeks old or within their first laying season. I live in Norman too. I will purchase them if you are selling. Or if you know anyone in Norman looking to rehome/sell, please reach out! Thank you!

Hi Marsh,

I had a baby last year so I took a full year off from hatching, sorry! I have been thinking about letting go of two more wheaten marans hens if you're interested, but they are about two years old. Still laying great of course.

No apology needed! Congratulations! That’s a wonderful reason to take a break from hatching.

thank you for reaching out! I am still interested in adding more birds to my flock and I am currently designing a larger coop to accommodate them. I’m hoping to have it built at the end of this month or early October. So maybe the stars will align and the Marans will find a new home at my house. In the meantime, I have a couple questions: do they have feathered legs and feet or naked legs and feet? What’s their tolerance for humans, are they full-on lap chickens or more independent and don’t like to be petted?

also I can figure out how to send a private message to ask questions instead of taking up space on the forum 😂
Thanks!

I don't think we need to worry about taking up space, unless you just prefer private messaging!

My marans have feathering down the legs and onto the feet. They've been slowly molting so they're starting to look nice, I'll get some updated pictures soon.

They are independent, I don't raise my chickens to be petted so I think they would find that pretty disturbing lol.
