Hello everyone
I am new to having chickens, we got our first three last week.
The chickens have settled into their new home well, we got a lot of advice beforehand about how best to care for them and we’ve been spending a lot of time with them. All three hens are very active and cheeky.
Today I noticed that one of our chickens was extremely lethargic. She didn’t move from the same spot for about half an hour, even when we went over and tried to feed her. She has let us pet her and has let the other chickens approach her but just doesn’t seem bothered by anything.
Her body language is very strange: she is standing, with her head down almost touching the ground, tail up and eyes closed. We have attempted to feed her and put some chicken minerals into her water, but she won’t eat them.
As the chickens are new, they haven’t yet laid anyway.
I’m really worried as we are new to looking after chickens and I don’t want to miss any significant warning signs of something more serious.
Please can I have your advice?
Thank you in advance
