Good evening, all!
I have some week old French White Marans, and there is one that I have a slight concern about:
I do not know the gender yet, but this one is just slightly smaller (barely noticeable). Looking at it, nothing appears wrong. It doesn’t sneeze, no discharge anywhere, nor any behavior changes. However, when I pick the chick up and hold it real close, I can hear crackles when it breathes. It has done this since I picked them up from the post office, but nothing has come of it. The other chicks don’t exhibit this, and the chick has no other symptoms. Even looking in its mouth, no mucus is present.
I have never dealt with this before, but does anybody have ideas what may be the cause? It hasn’t progressed any, and it’s not near as noticeable. I would assume an injury, but still, not symptoms. Then I would think infection, but still, no accompanying symptoms or contagiousness.
