Well what can I say. Curiosity and Google got the better of me during lock down, and I discovered it was possible to incubate chicken eggs in a homemade incubator. So I thought I'd give it a go. I have 4 Icelandic hens and a male Norwegian. And well thought we could do with a few more egg layers. So I gathered 5 eggs (over 3 ays) from my hens., and placed them in my homemade incubator. I was shocked when I candles them after 7 days and saw all were viable! Now we're going into day 18, and all doing well with movement etc. I will lock down at the end of day 18, but I am so inpatient and anxious. I feel like I have read so much the last weeks about hatching chicks, that I am starting to go a little chicken mad. Fingers crossed for a good hatch.

Need some advice. Today is lock down day for me. However the air sac in my 5th egg is too small. I was thinking of waiting an extra day with upping the humidity, to give it some extra time. However, all my other 4 eggs have started wriggling this evening. Should I just up the humidity and hope for the best? I have upped it slightly to 42% for now.
