Mom brought home some bantam chicks, but we don't have a bantam flock or coop. Their not ready to be integrated with the normal sized flock yet but I would like to know if theres a more suitable way to integrate bantams with larger breeds.

I’ve been reading the same things myself as I have 7 regular sized 8 week old hens and 8 6 week bantams. They sleep apart at night and coexist in a run in the day - the big girls are bullies to the little ones- even though they have spent time with them since they were born . I plan to bring all 8 bantams to a friend tomorrow but I am sad to do so. Just don’t want the “littles” to be unhappy ...

I personally like to keep bantams and heavy breeds separate but I've saw many people on here keep them together. If you see any excessive aggression (beyond establishing a pecking order) you may have to separate them. I'd have another cage or something ready just in case.

We got 3 bantams and had trouble mixing them. My bantams are tiny compared to my big girls though. Last year we added one bigger bantam and had no problems. My tiny bantams are picked on so badly and never fit in. So we ended up making them their own place and now they’re all happy. Just my experience! I’ve seen a lot of stories where they worked out fine. My big girls are just mean lol
