Hello, I am relatively new to chicken keeping. I have had my mixed flock for a little over a month now.

My mixed flock consists of a 16 week old Red Sexlink, (2) 12 week old Ameracaunas, (2) 12 week old French black copper marans, (2) 12 week old Rhode Island Reds and (1) 10 week old Speckled Sussex.

We recently lost one of our Speckled Sussex Pullets to a Golden Eagle. So she was replaced with a red Sexlink.

This red Sexlink establishing itself in pecking order started picking feathers of our 10 week old Speckled Sussex to the point she was bleeding so we separated them.

I am curious how long will the turn around be for her feathers to grow back. She is 10 weeks old and she’s missing a few feathers on her tail area?

Also she has white speckles on her chest. As she matures will she gain more speckles or will that be the only concentration of white speckles on her?

Thanks in advance for all of your thoughtful responses.

Here is a photo of the girls today.

Here is a phot of my speckled Sussex Pullet at 8 weeks old. She was in those other photos but she was tucked behind our Ameracaunas.

I lost one of my little speckled Sussex chicks to a dog this year. I have one left & as a result she’s become low gal on the totem pole. She’s super sweet & doesn’t fight back. She had very little speckles to start with but she’s steadily getting more as she gets older.
