Curious on peoples opinions on this.
We have a beautiful speckled sussex roo who is not fully matured. We have searched high & low for some girls to pair him with, the only person I've found quoted me $165 for THREE 1 week old chicks, which is just absurd.
I've found a breeder that has bantam speckled sussex, she says her fully grown girls are 2.7-3.3kg. Can I safely do this mix? SHOULD I do this mix? What would I be able to resell any chicks for? (I'm in QLD Australia).
Hopefully someone is able to help with the question, it's probably an odd one 😂

2.7-3.3 kg sounds really large for a bantam... Are you sure they are bantams?
There is every chance she got the weight wrong - as I thought the same. I'd have to guess my standards are about 3-4kg... I did get a photo of hers against some standards & they are easily half the size, so I've already decided against it. I think my roo attempting to mount would do damage even unintentionally. I am back on the hunt for standards again 😅

Our 9 SS lay tan color eggs. The cream color eggs in this picture were laid by our SS.
