My little girl, Columbian Rock, 9 weeks old has a crop problem. First her crop was huge, smelled sour. Luckily, it is a little smaller now. We help her emptying her crop twice a day, Some liquid comes up and then feed her again. She has a huge appetite and is lively. She follows me around in the yard but her crop is dangeling almost to the ground. I can feel lots of grit and feel no solid mass.
I have isolated her in the coop, left her under the heat lamp and take her out for walks. I have tried with fasting; only gave water. feeding her yogurt, coconut oil, egg yolk, bread soaked in olive oil and now I am reading that mollasses can also do the trick.I am afraid she will not get enough nutrition this way. As far I have researched it it looks like a pendulous/ impacted crop? There is no avain vet in my area (I live on Vancouver Island Canada near Nanaimo) and although I have 26 other chicks, I do want to save her if possible. Is this a lost battle? Anybody any idea? Thank you so much.
