I have a wry necked chick (who i am treating and is a lot better, though improvement has stopped)

They come to me when I call their name, runs behind me when they are scared and when I pick them up for cuddles they bury their head into my arm and start scratching and flapping (very merrily btw, there is zero panic from this chick)

So my curiosity, is this chick doing this from some sort of affection or does it just really want a bath?

Hi Silverpenguin... I’m not sure about chickens but my duck loves hiding her head between my arm and body when relaxing on my lap. She goes to sleep like that.

She also does that when I have had her feet checked or whatever procedure she does not like, after he flies up against me and hide her head to calm down

I had a chick imprint on me that was rejected by the hen. It would dust bathe on me every chance it got even though it could do it in the brooder and outside when it was bigger. Super cute! She just loves you but do a lice and mite check just to be sure :) they seem to grow out of this behaviour as they get older.

I refuse, I will force her to love me forever :(

poultry are great company! and good food (so conflicted)

Ducks are next on the list! though im afraid of the duck level of inprinting... might give the ducks to my chickens to raise when i get them

Don‘t worry, my ducks survive perfectly when I’m away. but in the morning and evening they love to get a hug or attention in general. During the day they are free birds :)

How old is your chick? It seems as if she is trying to snuggle into your "plumage" like she would into a mother hen.
