I had 15 chickens. Always put inside a safe coop at night and in a fenced in area during the day. Today like every day my kids were let out of the coop but safely in the fenced area. I went to work. A normal day. I came home to a devastating mess of feathers and five out of the fifteen left for dead.all with Broken necks and the other ten gone... It dug it scratch around the fence till it found one weak spot where the ground had softened because of all the rain. It dug almost a foot down and under my fencing. What would have done this. I'm heart broken these were family members.

So very sorry for the circumstances. My gut tells me either fox or coyotes feeding kits/pups. If you get new birds, I would recommend electric fencing around your pen.

That sounds exactly like a fox. I would keep your babies confined until you can do something about it. I would recommend trapping it and shooting it, because if you release it somewhere else, it either comes back or becomes someone else's problem.

We are beginning to think either coyote or maybe fisher. It is pup season were just very surprised to see it dig down a foot. Ty. I still can't believe there all gone. I keep looking out there expecting to see my little banty roo doing his thing. :(
